ABOUT STRENGTH
Greater Geelong region’s most experienced child psychology team.
There are other psychology practices in Geelong, so here is why families, GPs, and school principals consistently choose Strength, and why the children we see get such great outcomes.
OUR FOUNDATION
Built on Educational & Developmental Psychology from day one.
Most psychology practices offer general mental health services and add children as a specialty. Strength was built the other way around. We started with a deep grounding in Educational and Developmental Psychology, the discipline that studies how children grow, learn, think, and develop across every domain of their lives.
That foundation changes everything about the quality of care we provide. Our clinicians don't just treat symptoms, they understand the developmental context behind them. Why a 9-year-old's anxiety looks different from a 15-year-old's. How a child's school environment, family dynamics, and neuro-developmental profile all interact. What a behaviour is communicating, not just how to manage it.
This is the lens through which every clinician at Strength approaches their work, regardless of whether a child comes to us for counselling, assessment, or both.
WHAT SETS US APART
Four reasons families choose Strength.
HOW COLLABORATION WORKS
One clinician. The knowledge of nine.
The phrase "collaborative team" gets used loosely in healthcare. At Strength, it has a specific meaning, and a specific structure that makes it real.
Every clinician at Strength participates in formal individual clinical supervision with a senior clinician, as well as regular group case conferencing where complex or challenging cases are discussed as a team. This isn't informal hallway conversation, it's a structured, professional process that ensures every child's care is informed by more than one perspective.
For your family, this means that when your child's psychologist encounters something complex or unfamiliar, they are not working alone. The full depth of the Strength team's experience — across ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, learning differences, and more — is available to inform your child's care.
Your child’s psychologist
Leads your child’s care, builds the therapeutic relationship, and develops a personalised treatment plan.
Individual clinical supervision
Regular one-on-one supervision with a senior clinician ensures reflective, high-quality practice at every session.
Group case conferencing
Complex cases are discussed as a full team — drawing on multiple clinical perspectives and specialisations.
Better outcomes for your child
The result is a quality of care that genuinely reflects the depth of the whole team — not just one practitioner working in isolation.
OUR STORY IN BRIEF
From one psychologist to Geelong’s largest child psychology team.
Strength Psychology was founded in August 2020 with a clear vision: to build a child psychology practice in Geelong that families could genuinely rely on. What followed is a story of steady, deliberate growth.
Strength Psychology opens in Belmont
Founded with a single psychologist and a clear mission to provide high-quality, specialist child psychology services to families in the Greater Geelong region.
The team begins to grow
The first additional clinician joins, bringing specialist expertise and laying the foundation for the collaborative team model that would define Strength's approach.
Schools partnership model develops
Strength begins partnering with local schools to deliver in-school psychological services, a natural extension of the team's educational psychology expertise.
Moves to Highton & expands further
Growing client demand sees Strength move to a larger home in Highton — and the team continues to expand with new specialist clinicians.
Nine clinicians. Still growing.
Strength is now the largest child psychology team in the Greater Geelong region, with over 60 years of aggregate clinical experience and a genuine commitment to being the practice Geelong families trust.
