SERVICES

Counselling & Parent Support

When your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, big emotions, or behaviours that are hard to understand, our clinicians provide a safe, skilled, and genuinely warm space to begin working things through.

OUR APPROACH

Rooted in education. Built around your child.

Strength Psychology grew from a foundation of Educational and Developmental Psychology, which means our clinicians understand not just what a child is experiencing, but why, and how their development, environment, school life, and relationships all play a role.

Our clinicians come from backgrounds as teachers, school psychologists, researchers, and community service workers. That breadth of lived experience means your child is seen as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.

Sessions are tailored to each child's age, personality, and needs. For younger children, this often includes play-based and creative approaches. For adolescents, it might look more like a conversation, always at a pace that feels safe.

HOW IT WORKS

Simple from the very first step.

Our goal is to get your child in front of the right clinician as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

1

Choose your clinician

Use our clinician-matching tool to find the right fit for your child's needs.

2

Book an initial session

Book online in minutes, telehealth or in-clinic. A short intake form is completed as part of your booking.

3

Attend first appointment

Your clinician takes time to understand your child's story, history, and what you're hoping to achieve together.

4

Tailored support begins

Your clinician builds a personalised plan drawing on the collective experience of the full Strength team.

FEES & FUNDING

Understanding your options.

Individual 50-minute sessions are rebatable under Medicare with a valid referral. We've laid out the key pathways below so you know what to expect before you book. You do not need a referral to see us privately.

Medicare Rebate

Mental Health Treatment Plan

Individual 50-minute sessions are eligible for a Medicare rebate when referred by your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).

Under a MHTP, children are entitled to up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. Up to 2 of those sessions may be used for parent sessions where clinically indicated.

Ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan referral addressed to Strength Psychology before your first appointment. NOTE: There is still an out-of-pocket expense with a MHTP.

NDIS

Self & Plan Managed

Strength Psychology works with clients with NDIS funding that is self-managed or plan-managed. We are not able to accept Agency-managed (NDIA-managed) plans.

Counselling sessions are typically funded under the Improved Daily Living or Capacity Building supports in a child's NDIS plan. If you are unsure whether your plan covers psychology services, your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm.

Not sure if your plan is self or plan managed? Check your NDIS plan documents or call the NDIS on 1800 800 110.

OUR CLINICIANS

Meet the team who does this work.

All of our counselling clinicians hold postgraduate qualifications and bring specialist expertise across the full range of childhood presentations. Each is supported by the collective knowledge of the Strength team.

Ready to take the first step?

Booking an initial session is straightforward. Use our clinician-matching tool to find the right fit and book online in minutes.

Also considering a psychological assessment?

If you suspect your child may have ADHD, autism, or a learning disorder, assessment is a separate pathway with a different process.
